Air India Plane Crash: Declaration of Kerala government,
families of those killed will get compensation of one million

Air India aircraft coming from Dubai
fell victim to an accident at the airport in Kozhikode, Kerala late on Friday
evening. The runway was flooded due to heavy rains and the aircraft slipped
into a ditch about 50 feet deep at the time of landing. 18 people on board the
aircraft have died and 127 people have been injured. The Information Aircraft
Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) recovered digital flight data recorders
and cockpit voice recorders from the aircraft. They will be brought to Delhi
for further investigation. Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri visited
Kozhikode Airport. He has also announced compensation in the plane crash. Along
with this, the Chief Minister of Kerala has announced a compensation of Rs 10
lakh to the families of those killed.
Putin's condolence
After the horrific
plane crash in Kerala on Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin today
expressed his condolences to President Ramnath Kovind and Prime Minister
Narendra Modi on the tragic plane crash in Kozhikode.

Minister Anil Deshmukh met the family members of the late Captain DV Sathe at his
residence in Nagpur today. Captain DV Sathe was the pilot in the crashed Air
India Express aircraft at Kozhikode Airport yesterday.
The CISF jawans who played an important role in the rescue
work after the plane crash. CISF Director General Rajesh Ranjan has announced
the awarding of these CISF personnel.
The Chief Minister's
Office of Kerala (CMO) said that the corona test has been done for the people
killed and injured in the accident. So far only one corona report has been
positive. With this, the CMO was told that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi
Vijayan has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of each
passenger killed in the plane crash.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation had some
problems with the runway in 2015, but it was resolved. Later in the year 2019

The plane was unable to land on the runway where it was to
land. He then landed on the second runway, where the accident occurred. He said
that they are monitoring the situation and efforts are on to revive the airport

Union Minister
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has announced
compensation for those injured in the plane crash. He has announced a grant of
Rs 10 lakh to the kin of the deceased, Rs 2 lakh to the seriously injured and
Rs 50,000 to those who suffered minor injuries as interim relief to the
victims.
Pilots
The pilots of the flight were Deepak Vasant Sathe
who was a wing commander and was a decorated former Indian Air Force fighter
pilot and has also flew planes for Air India before moving on to Air India
Express
Basudev, cousin of co-pilot Akhilesh Kumar, who lost his
life in the Kozhikode plane crash, said he was a very polite and well-behaved
man. His wife is about to give birth to her child in the next 15–17 days. He
joined Air India in 2017 and came home before the lockdown.

Union Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has reached the
spot. The minister is taking stock of the relief and rescue operations after
the air crash that took place last evening. He will then hold discussions with
senior aviation officers and professionals.
